Connecting to Database from AWS Glue

From AWS Glue, you can connect to Databases using JDBC connection. Follow the below steps to connect to Database:

  1. Login to AWS Console
  2. Search for AWS Glue service
  3. Click on AWS Glue service
  4. AWS Glue Services

  5. Under Data catalog, go to Connections
  6. Data catalog and connections

  7. Click on Add connection
  8. Add Connection

  9. Provide Connection name and Select Connection type as JDBC and click on Next
  10. Connection Type

  11. Provide the JDBC URL as below
    1. For SQL Server – jdbc:sqlserver://host:port;databaseName=db_name
    2. For Oracle – jdbc:oracle:thin://@host:port/service_name
    3. For other database engines – jdbc:protocol://host:port/databasename
  12. Provide Username, Password, VPC, Subnet and Security groups
  13. Username and Password

  14. Click on Next
  15. Review all the steps and Click on Finish
  16. For testing the Connection, click on Test connection in Connections
