Introduction:

Row Normaliser:

The Row Normaliser step converts the columns of an input stream into rows. You can use this step to normalize repeating groups of columns.

Steps to do Normalise:

Take the denormaliser output as input to the row normaliser component. Double click on the components and select the custkey as type field.

The following fields are general to this transformation step:

Step Name : Specify the unique name of the Row Normaliser step on the canvas. You can customize the name or leave it as the default.

Type field : Specify the name of the new column in the output data.

Target fields : Click on the get fields to get the target fields.

Right click on the Row normaliser component and preview it.

Row Denormaliser:

The Row Denormaliser step can be used to try to improve performance either by adding redundant copies of data values or by grouping data. You can also use this step to convert data types.

Steps to do Denormalise:

Take one data grid component in pentaho and add the field names,data type and data.

We have Row denormaliser component in Transform level in pentaho,Drag and drop the component on the workspace and connect to the datagrid.

The following fields are general to this transformation:

Double click on the row denormaliser component you can see the below fields.

Step name : Specify the unique name of the transformation step on the canvas. The step name is set to ‘Row denormaliser’ by default.

Key field : Define the key of the output row.Here custkey field is our key column.

Group filed: The fields that make up the grouping table to specify what fields from the incoming PDI data stream define the grouping for the denormalization process. You can click Get Fields to automatically fill the table with all the fields from the incoming PDI data stream.

Target fields : Target fields table to select the fields to denormalize by specifying the String value for the Key field.You can click Get lookup fields to retrieve fields from the PDI data stream.

Right click on the Row denormaliser component and preview it then you can see the output.
